The Return Of The Linkdump Truck
Try to take your minds off the football for a few minutes (let's face it, the English team did) with a bit of linky goodness. But spare a thought for Gerrard and Heskey, because to be honest the brainless need all the help they can get.
The Linkdump Truck has been into the Parallax View offices demanding a rise, on the grounds of all the extra refuelling required during Euro 2004. I advised him his grasp did indeed exceed his reach, and furthermore those oil stains on the carpet are coming out of his wages.
Choke, Survivor and Invisible Monsters are arguably Chuck Palahniuk's best books, so the good news is that all three are set to be filmed this year. Jessica Biel is being lined up to star in Invisible Monsters. Not everybody will be pleased, mind.
Congratulations are due to West Ham legend Trevor Brooking, on his knighthood this week. Well done, sir. Or should that be Sir?
"It was something else, man. Extraordinary. Lonely, sometimes, but very liberating. It was just me with my laptop and my clothing and my suitcase, just flying, landing, wandering into the city, checking into the hotel and writing and then soaking up the vibe for a fortnight or so, walking the streets, visiting bars, whatever. I felt a clean sense of detachment but I also felt inspired."
"You never indulged yourself in the way your narrator does?"
"No. I was never tempted. Ever. Seriously."
The great Ray Loriga in interview, discussing his research for Tokyo Doesn't Love Us Anymore, one of my favourite books of last year.

'So what do Keane, Scissor Sisters, Jet and Goldfrapp have in common?
Well, apart from the fact that I wish every single last one of them would SHUT UP AND LEAVE ME ALONE, they’ve all recently re-released singles that flopped first time around in search of that elusive hit. And in so doing, they have exposed themselves for the money-grabbing charlatans that they are.'

(weblog) Slightly rude and irreverent blogging is available over at Insubstantial. He's not in France, you know.
Fluxblog has some live Fiery Furnaces mp3s and earns my eternal gratitude in return.
Jimi Tenor has a new album out on Kitty-Yo, Beyond The Stars. There's an mp3 of the title track available here.
The excellent new single from Radio 4 can be streamed from their official site.
And yes, I am sober, having watched the England game at home with a cup of tea and a bit of cake (40, you know). And still recovering from the distress caused earlier by being chased towards the Town Centre by a gang of girls chanting 'You're Fit And You Know You Are'. Sarcasm really isn't becoming in young people, you know. Mike Skinner has a lot to answer for, if you ask me.
