Ed's Dead

Gutting news in this evening as Edwards No.8 in Birmingham Centre has been destroyed by a major fire. Dead Kenny hasn't visited the venue for a while but back in the mid-90s this was where first saw Oasis play, in front of a couple of hundred people at most, just before their second single came out. This was where we saw Supergrass and The Bluetones play a double-header gig before either of them had hits, and Dead Kenny got his first gig review proper published in the local press. And this was where your correspondent chanted 'you're going down with the Swindon' to Tottscum-supporting shoegazer lovelies Lush (they didn't sadly, either the Tottscum or the Lush lovelies - on us, anyways).

So all in all, this is part of Dead Kenny's cultural heritage up in flames! Cue waterworks.
