Distraught Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Tweedy's future prospects just got better (see Monday's post for back story) with the news that Brum boss Steve Bruce's bankbusting transfer-window spending has taken a new turn in barminess -

'The Blues boss believes 19-year-old Tweedy, who shot to prominence this week with a combative performance in the women's lavatories at a nightclub in Guildford, is exactly the kind of battler he needs as his side battle to stave off relegation.

A source close to Bruce (who, like Jesus, may or may not exist) said: "Steve's been looking to add a bit of punch to the side and Tweedy's exactly what he's been looking for.

"After losing out on Lee Bowyer, Tweedy could be the next best thing."

Ms. Tweedy and Birmingham City certainly have one thing in common: I'd love to see both of them go down.
