Some sad news to share about the deaths of two fine international film-makers - Kinji Fukasaku who directed the fantastic Battle Royale and Maurice Pialat the French auteur behind a slew of great films in the 80s such as Loulou, To Our Loves and the electrifying Police.

It's a drabber world for their passing.
