So it was a bad weekend then for Pete Townshend and an even worse one I guess for Maurice Gibb but I'm bored with those stories already. Much more of interest to today's many visitors here via Google is the story of sultry Girls Aloud siren Cheryl Tweedy (19, pictured left) and her catfight in the ladies loo of Croydon nightspot The Drink which saw her arrested and held overnight in a police cell.
The News Of The World portrayed the incident as an amusing if unexpected bout of rock 'n' roll excess in which Cheryl showed she could mix it with the best of the Gallaghers by retaliating to an apparently unprovoked attack by a toilet attendant.
The Sunday Mirror however provided a more sinister angle, featuring allegations from the toilet attendant and security guard that before you could say 'look at the Enoch-ers on that' Ms Tweedy launched into racist invective as well as her fists when the attendant (who perhaps crucially is also a law student) attempted to stop her stealing some lollies(!).
The article provides additional salacious nudge-nudge factor with the toilet attendant's observation that Cheryl and fellow band member Nicola Roberts shared a locked cubicle: "I don't know what they were doing in a toilet together. I don't remember any sounds." That little anecdote might provide some encouragement to the person who came to this site via this search engine request anyway. And who knows what they wanted with all those lollipops? It seems all tatu much to take in, doesn't it?
In today's The Sun Cheryl admits to hitting the attendant in self-defence and calling her a bitch but categorically denies using racist language. Whatever the truth of the matter the unfortunate publicity has already led to rumours that she could be kicked out of the band.
Still things could be worse. There's an increased possibility of a Valentine's card from Lee Bowyer for her for a start and maybe Cheryl could get together with fellow reality show cat-fighting casualty Myleene Klass. Not to make any records, you understand. Just to get together. And maybe take some photos. And post to me in a plain brown envelope. Please?
