First up, let's get the births/deaths/marriages business out of the way. So happy birthday to The Daily Growler for tomorrow, congratulations to Twenty Major who will no doubt be using the C Word even more often now he's entering into his terrible twos and go take a look at Nath's redesign (she's also started up a 'knitting' thread which hopefully won't culminate in pearl jam). Try also to get along to see Kate Finch play a solo acoustic gig at The Black Horse on the Aston University Campus tonight (Sept 30th). But it's so long to Inspector Sands who's shuffling off his blogging beat, for the time being, at least.

Robert Downey Jr. has been announced as the choice to play Marvel's metal-encased megalomaniac Iron Man in the upcoming screen adaptation. Are they taking the metal-encased mickey, or what?
Jarvis Cocker is soliciting suggestions for the most unintentionally scary songs of all-time. Dead Kenny's offering is that chilling bit where the lovers hear the milkbottles tinkle at the end of Benny Hill's 'Ernie', whaddaya reckon?

Cinema: Paul Verhoeven is back with his first film since the vapid Hollow Man back at the turn of the century. Said to be a return to form, his Black Book should be worth getting into.
