Not a great year for comedies, obviously. In entirely unrelated news, the German film industry snags two of the top three slots for 2005.

Dead Kenny never got round to reviewing the winning film on these pages, but it was the most completely satisfying production of the year, an improbable (if not impossible) punk rock romance amidst the Turkish immigrant community in Germany, seething with equal measures of love and loss, hope and anger. The DVD is out now in the UK to rent or buy.
