Parallax View Films Of The Year 2004

Pretty much everybody seems to be in agreement that 2004 has been an uncommonly good year for feature films. While Dead Kenny can't pretend to have seen every single movie released in the UK this year, this is the selection of the best 20 in his experience to date.

1. OLDBOY (dir. Chan-wook Park)
2. Demonlover (Olivier Assayas)
3. The Return (Andrei Zvyagintsev)
4. The Incredibles (Brad Bird)
5. Elephant (Gus Van Sant)
6. Carandiru (Hector Babenco)
7. Kill Bill Vol 2 (Quentin Tarantino)
8. Birth (Jonathan Glazer)
9. Monster (Patty Jenkins)
10. The Village (M. Night Shyamalan)
11. Cold Mountain (Anthony Minghella)
12. Open Range (Kevin Costner)
13. 21 Grams (Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu)
14. Spiderman 2 (Sam Raimi)
15. Shaun Of The Dead (Edgar Wright)
16. Runaway Jury (Gary Fleder)
17. Capturing The Friedmans (Andrew Jarecki)
18. The Anniversary Party (Alan Cumming/Jennifer Jason Leigh)
19. The Cooler (Wayne Kramer)
20. The Station Agent (Thomas McCarthy)

Full reviews of some of these films can be found by using the search option on the sidebar menu. Parallax View didn't get around to reviewing all of these films individually, however, so if you're curious for more info the ever-indispensible IMDB will do all Dead Kenny's hard work for him.
