For Hume The Bell Tolls

Just time tonight to pay my respects to veteran actor Hume Cronyn who has died of cancer at the age of 91. Many years before Parallax View the weblog there was a rather fine paranoid thriller which shared its name with this site. In it, the inimitable Mr C played Warren Beatty's irascible boss in a finely-judged supporting role.

He was perhaps best known for being the long-time partner of Academy Award-winning actress Jessica Tandy and the Cocoon films in which he co-starred with his real-life leading lady.
