Ladeez Night (half-price links for girls)
Part One: Auld Acquaintance.
Welcome to the first installment of Ladeez Night wherein I try to redress the balance of male:female bloggers in my blogroll by introducing you to some different female voices on the scene. With thanks to the following, who I've roped in to help with the ambience - we've got Graybo providing cool jazz sounds on the decks; John Fogde serving drinks; Jon Pollard waiting the tables and Anna making the girls feel at home by doing the introductions.
And because I'm a shy, retiring old sort at heart I thought I'd start with a few familiar faces. Girls I've linked to previously but for one reason or other dropped off my sidebar menu. OK, normally because they've gone AWOL avoiding my stalker-like tendencies but let's gloss over that point, shall we?
But what better way to get tha party started than with some Vodkabird Mixers? Vicky (right) is an English girl living in Scotland, known for her sensible but forthright views. For a while her bottle was empty but since then she's forsaken cooking after a 'wine-and-cigarettes-are-easier-to-prepare epiphany.' As she says, 'the fridge simply isn't big enough for cheap wine and food.' Quite.
It was then that I managed to catch Miss C Side's eye (left), who proved very entertaining when discussing disturbing dreams; spiders the size of golfballs and getting out of bed in all her naked glory to find a catflap at her feet. Which sounds more disturbing than her nightmares, if you think about it. Miss C Side seems single in a complicated kinda way, but sadly for my shortarsed self only likes tall guys. Besides which, by the look of the way the DJ is fiddling with his 12"s he may be about to make a move himself.
From across the pond Alison has a site from Houston, Texas which has received a number of recommendations. It's not hard to see why as she writes and designs well. I linked to her from the very early days of PV but then she stopped posting for a while so I took her off the roll to make way for someone else. Like she should care when she picks up Bloggie awards for her site design...
Little Lamb has also returned from a short absence, to regale us with tales of open-heart surgery; drug addiction; pet snakes and her obsession with Clive Owen. She's just won a scholarship to study in York and she's thrilled at the prospect of moving to a country where all the men 'talk like Tim Roth'. She's quite confident of her chances too, after all every guy 'likes a gal who can handle a snake.' Hmm. I'm sure it's all just a question of scale...
Ah well, time for bed, and just when things were starting to get fun. Next week's Ladeez Night sees me encountering some strangers and Ladies Who Link. Wish me luck!
