Well, I made a conscious decision (write this down, it doesn't happen often) to start going to some more gigs, because, Reading Festival aside, things have been a little quiet on that front for too long. So I popped down to Wolverhampton yesterday afternoon to get some tickets for upcoming shows at the Little Civic by The Beatings and Brendan Benson.
While I was in town, I moved on to Heroes Sports Bar to have a few beers while the footie results rolled in, and grimaced with excess tension until the joyful release of Paolo Di Canio's winner giving The Happy Hammers our first victory of the season in a 3-2 thriller against Frank Lumplard's Chelsea. This in turn, of course, led to the need for more beers to celebrate and so the rest of the night things got a bit hazy. Although, I should perhaps apologise to my neighbours for playing Bruce Springsteen's 'The Rising' (whoops, there's my indie credentials blown for good) at full blast in the early hours of this morning...
