Sorry for the lack of updates yesterday. It had nothing to do with bonfires or fireworks as I can assure you that if I was the sort of person who enjoyed being out in all weathers laughing in the face of danger I'd be in a much more lucrative line of work.
But c'mon, you didn't expect me to update my weblog when Return Of The Jedi was on TV, didya? Aww, those cute ewoks! But enough about Princess Leia's metal bikini, right?
I was struck by the poor quality of some of the effects in the film. I know people will point out that this was before digital film-making, but it was released in 1983 which was around the same time as Ridley Scott's Blade Runner, Paul Schrader's Cat People and John Carpenter's The Thing, which all contained outstanding FX that have stood the test of time. So there was really no excuse for some of the shoddy superimposition in Jedi, surely? It was still a damn entertaining movie, mind.
