Finisterre the new album from Saint Etienne represents a smart return to form, a record as seemingly simple, stylish and definitively British as a Mini Cooper. Yet despite the sleek contours and seemingly effortless chic the album embodies, the beauty is in the details - the understated sleeve, the way the tracks invariably take unexpected turns, and the droll asides voiced in plummy deadpan by Shakespearian thesp Michael Jayston (pictured right from a scene in Dr Who) that link the songs.
