World Cup: France surrenders.

Excuse my Farkesque stereotyping there but what else can you say when it's a case of Roger LeMerde as reigning champs France are dumped out of the World Cup having recorded no wins and (incredibly for a team that includes Thierry Henry and David Trezeguet) scored no goals in their group of Senegal, Uruguay and Denmark. LeMerre's persistence with the likes of Petit and Djorkaeff at the expense of some of the most sought-after youngsters in Europe is likely to see him out of a job soon, but credit should also be due to Denmark who looked very solid and represent dangerous outsiders for the tournament and England (should they qualify tomorrow) would do well to avoid them.
