Memo to talking heads spouting off about the firefighter strike: Try harder than using cliches like 'it's not rocket science'. But don't try so hard that you say something like 'I'm with the Buffalo Girls on this one: I say let's go round the outside' because not only is it also gibberish but it sounds like gibberish you've been practicing saying in your head for days, and that really is so unspeakably sad.
