The Mothman Prophecies: 'You Didn't See It, Did You?'Rented The Mothman Prophecies on DVD this week, and strongly recommend you try to catch this film if you can. Director Mark (Arlington Road) Pellington skilfully appropriates some David Lynch motifs into more mainstream fare in a movie that is (presumably loosely) based on real life events in a small town in the States back in the 60s.

The film doesn't altogether avoid genre cliches and perhaps isn't startlingly original, but bold direction and good acting help build suspense and create a genuinely spooky atmosphere that leads to a satisfying (albeit enigmatic) climax. Worth seeking out for chilling viewing over the long autumn evenings.

Some background info on the Mothman phenomena can be found here.
