Whatever you think about the amount of hype levelled on some groups of late, few would argue that there has been a steep increase in interesting new bands over the last few months. So it seems particularly disappointing timing for the BBC to announce that Radio 1 are cancelling Steve Lamacq's Evening Session from December, which is just about their only programme showcasing emerging talent aired at a civilised hour.
