Massive Attack

I know what you're thinking: hey Dead Kenny, how come you're updating your blog when the big Blackburn v Celtic game is on TV? Now I'm probably inviting myself a whole lot of hate mail here, but IMHO even by modern-day Sky-era standards of hype this has to be the least massive of all 'massive football games' in recent memory.

On the one hand you have Blackburn a middling Premiership club. On the other, Celtic, a big fish in the SPL pond but a relative minnow in Europe's more treacherous waters. Whatever happens tonight, no arguments will be settled regarding the respective merits of English and Scottish soccer. Whoever wins, I don't see the likes of Bayern Munich, Liverpool or Dynamo Kiev exactly quaking in their boots at the prospects of meeting the victors in the next round.

All in a competition (the UEFA Cup) which in recent years has been contested by teams who couldn't cut it in the Champions League. Massive game? You're having a larf, ain't ya?

On the whole, I'd rather listen to the new Ladytron record.
