Backchat
Yes. Ze chat is back. And so is big bad rock music. The BBC says so therefore it must be so. Let's make the most of this time to glory in young men and women and their guitars before all the cool people decide opera or something is the new rock 'n' roll again. Steve wrote in to say he enjoyed those new wave pics I linked to, and wondered whether I'd seen this Interpol album review. It's less than complimentary about our rock fop heroes actually, but don't worry, rest assured they're completely wrong.
And never let it be said that the stars don't write in to Parallax View. Why, only the other day Gavin the rhythm/FX geezer from The Casual Theory dropped me a line to thank me for mentioning their support slot at the gig for The Beatings and Kinesis in Wolverhampton last week. Apparently, this was their first ever review! I know. Bless. Just as well really I was quite nice about them. But thanks to Gav I've found out they do indeed have an official website of their own to explore. Nice blurry visuals too!
I'm going to use the Backchat feature to update you on some stories previously covered at this here location. For instance author Michel Houillebecq has been cleared of inciting racial hatred and Gaspar Noe's controversial film Irreversible has been passed uncut by the British censors. I've not seen the film but maybe a nine-minute rape sequence that is graphic, nauseating, filmed in real-time and makes the audience feel uncomfortable and distressed is exactly the way such a terrible act should be portrayed on screen. I guess the opposing view is that it endangers glamorising rape. Maybe we should watch the damned thing before deciding. What do you think?
I'm all backchatted out now, you crazy blog-reading dudes and dude-ettes. 'Til next time!
