By gum, it's Ben Kweller: the return of the paste-y indie kidDifficult when all you want to do is play the Interpol album non-stop to consider this week's new releases, but I just about persisted long enough to nominate Ben Kweller's Wasted and Ready as Parallax View's single of the week.

Oh to be a young, horny singer/songwriter: Ben seems typically torn between being the next sensitive songsmith in the Evan Dando mould or a hedonistic party-hard goon a la Andrew WK. He solves the problem on Wasted and Ready by being both in the same song - a gloriously memorable paean to drugs, sex and rock'n'roll which sums up his young dumb and full of cum mentality so succinctly he probably never needs to record another song again.

That's not to say we shouldn't revel in the moment though. OK, it sounds a lot like Weezer. But Weezer on a good day. So that's alright then. And any song which has a lyric that sounds to me like 'sex reminds her of penis spaghetti' can't be all bad, right?
