Are weblogs sexist? is the debate of the day here in blogland, as discovered via Tom. I have to say I hadn't given this subject much thought, seeing as in the UK the great majority of high-profile blogs are either by women or gay men.

But perhaps I'm being complacent. On perusal of what I believe I should now refer to as my 'blogroll' (and what asswipe thought up that term?) there is a ratio of about 3:1 in favour of male writers. And believe me, if I've not been giving my full hyperlinking attention to blogging babes with brains out there, I'm much more worried about it than you are.

So I got to thinking maybe I should make more effort to redress this balance. And stop dozing off at the back there, because I need your help.

Here's the plan. On a date in the imminent future I intend to host a Ladeez Night with (wait for it) half-price links for girls. So if you know of a weblog (preferably though not necessarily exclusively, British) run by a woman that isn't on my blogroll (eyes left to the sidebar menu) that you think is deserving of attention please drop me a line and on said night I'll post a link. Alternatively, if you're a woman who runs a weblog hitherto ignored by myself, get in touch yourself and tell me in your own words why you merit a mention. But hurry! Lest I lose interest and drop the idea.

Mind you, whether you want the raving, rabid, sex-starved rabble that possibly make up my core readership visiting your site is entirely another matter. And no this isn't a lame-brained, thinly-disguised attempt to get young women with too much time on their hands to get in touch. Although it might be.
