Backchat

Introducing an all-new! exclusive! irregular! feature here on Parallax View in which I air some of the e-mails that have rattled into the PV inbox. Consider it a bit like Letters To The Editor or Points Of View but without (?) the irritating presenter. If you're feeling cynical you can also label it a poor, cheap excuse for not having a comments facility on this 'ere site, but hey, let's run with it anyways.

Let's get things started with a plea for help from my old college friend Poss because PV is nothing if not public-spirited and I know my readers are quite prepared to share their knowledge for a bit of care in the community. So, can you identify this tune for him?

'two chords, wicked groove (I'm too old to be using words like 'wicked', but what the hey), no other lyrics than a woman singing something like "sometimes things don't seem right, but then at times it seems much better". I used to hear this all the time about a month or so ago and it was great, but not once did any of those useless tossers on Radio 1, Virgin, Heart, Xfm, Capitol or Kiss ever say what it was.'

Anyone out there with the answer? Please e-mail it in.

Meanwhile, Jordan has taken a minute away from concentrating on all things footie to express his views on Goldmember, to wit: 'I have to say that -- determined as I was to find it purile and childish -- I really enjoyed it. I laughed more than I thought I would, I giggled at parts everyone else stared straight faced at and I thought that overall it was a very funny film. I'd almost go as far as to say it was the best Austin Powers film (if it wasn't for the dutch gags)'. Jordan liked it so much he even enjoyed the subtitle jokes. All I can say is that in the audience I saw it with these were met with a rather embarrassed silence. I'd actually forgotten about all the gags aimed at the Dutch and Belgians. Any flemish-speaking readers got any views on that?

And finally on this week's Backchat, Gina of Eeeeks! It's Gina Snowdoll and The Liar fame has written in to suggest that the whole Googlegate fiasco may be linked to this site using ASP in its design. I think I might have found the answer on this btw, so watch this space. I was a little disappointed though that when Gina's mail zoomed in to my inbox that my mail software couldn't let out a little squeaky 'eeeks!' but then I'm a little strange that way, I guess.

Toodle pip!
